Character Counter

Twitter (now X) allows 280 characters per post for standard accounts. Twitter Blue / X Premium subscribers can post up to 25,000 characters. URLs always count as 23 characters regardless of their actual length. Set the limit field to 280 to track your character count toward that limit.

A standard SMS is 160 characters using GSM-7 encoding. If your message contains special characters or emoji, it switches to Unicode (UCS-2) which limits each segment to 70 characters. Messages over the limit are split into multiple SMS segments and billed accordingly.

Google typically displays meta descriptions up to 155–160 characters on desktop and around 120 characters on mobile. Keep your meta descriptions between 120 and 155 characters for best results in search results pages.

Instagram captions allow up to 2,200 characters. However, only the first 125 characters show before the "more" link in the feed, so put your most important content at the beginning.

Characters with spaces counts every character including spaces. Characters without spaces counts only non-space characters. For most publishing limits (Twitter, SMS, meta descriptions), spaces count toward the total — so use the "with spaces" count.

Yes — the text area enables your browser's built-in spell-check. Misspelled words get underlined automatically as you type. Right-click any underlined word for suggested corrections. Toggle it off using the "Spell-check" button in the toolbar if you don't want it.
